Podcasters Joe Wilkinson & David Earl release World Cup Song

Comedians and podcast hosts Joe Wilkinson and David Earl are releasing a football song to get behind the England World Cup team.

Cup For The Cupboard is born out of the duo’s popular daily podcast Chatabix and features them both on vocals.

With the help of their loyal fans, the “Chatabiscuits”, the stars of Ricky Gervais’s hit comedy Afterlife hope to knock Skinner & Baddiel off the comedian-led football song top spot and get their track into the Top 10.

The comedy duo would love to have their song played as the England squad run out on the pitch in Qatar, doing their bit to motivate the team.

“We just wanted to help the team in any way – although I’m slightly worried my voice might actually put them off. If so, then apologies to the nation in advance. I really enjoyed being the Andrew Ridgley to David’s George Michael” says Wilkinson.

Earl adds: “I desperately want to be invited to an England game to have a lovely slap up meal, sit in a warm cosy seat and watch the team play. Then I want to meet the team, have a good laugh, make friends, and then start a WhatsApp group with all of them. This was my motivation for writing the song, no further questions please.”

Cup For The Cupboard is written and performed by Earl with Wilkinson (with some fine tuning from Eyesonlegs) and is available now on Apple and Spotify.
