Jack Lawler launches new comedy podcast The Daily Friday

A new podcast, The Daily Friday is launching to feature the funniest and most absurd news stories of the week in one place.

Hosted by LA-based comedian Jack Lawler, The Daily Friday promises to cover all the headlines you would want to share in your group chat, from insane viral trends to wild pop culture takes.

New episodes will be released every Friday and feature guests ranging from subject matter experts to comedians, keeping the tone irreverent, informal, and funny.

Lawler is best known as the founder of @WorkRetireDie, an online comedy brand he started in 2018 when he became frustrated with Corporate America. His daily satirical videos and memes about white-collar working life now entertain over 300,000 followers who rely on his humour to get through the day.

He also writes the successful Daily Friday Newsletter, which has gained over 170,000 subscribers in just two years.

Talking about the newsletter and the podcast, Lawler said: “Our readers don’t come to us for news on wars in the Middle East, trade deals, or election updates. They get enough of that just by being alive in 2025. They come to us for news about Bill Belichick’s new 24-year-old girlfriend, Sydney Sweeney’s bathwater soap, and Joey Chestnut re-entering the hot dog eating contest. And we like it that way.”

Lawler draws on his background in sketch comedy to create each episode. He is an alum of the Upright Citizens Brigade, where he performed for over seven years in New York with his sketch comedy group, including monthly variety shows at Caveat.

That comedic experience shapes his conversational style as he bounces off his guests, delivering fun stories and outrageous commentary designed to make listeners laugh and feel more connected to what’s happening in the world.

The podcast is produced by Almost Friday Media and promises “some sh*t that’s too crazy to include in the newsletter (some things should never be printed).”

New episodes of The Daily Friday will release weekly from 18 July on all podcast platforms.
