The Good, The Scaz & The Rugby returns for World Cup

England rugby’s Emily Scarratt and Natasha Hunt are back with broadcaster Elma Smit for a new series of The Good, The Scaz & The Rugby, just in time for the Red Roses’ home Rugby World Cup.

Returning for its sixth season, the award-winning podcast will include weekly episodes, Monday match reactions, a new YouTube channel, exclusive merchandise and plans for live shows.

Emily Scarratt, now selected for a record fifth Rugby World Cup, said: “After eight weeks of pre-season with England, getting to sit down and debrief on all the action with Mo and Elma is the dream.

“Over five series we’ve interviewed some of the biggest names in the game and won Best Rugby Podcast at the Sports Podcast Awards, and this next series will be even bigger.”

The podcast is produced by Folding Pocket, part of Platform Media, with new episodes every Thursday for the next ten weeks, along with the Monday reaction show hosted by Elma and commentator Nick Heath.

Co-hosts Scaz and Mo are both named in the Red Roses squad for the tournament, which begins on 22 August and runs until late September. With England ranked number one in the world and over 300,000 tickets already sold, it is set to be a landmark moment for women’s sport in the UK.

Elma Smit said: “We’re going to be inside Red Roses’ camp speaking to the players, giving listeners more behind-the-scenes access than ever before.”

The first episode features the trio reuniting after their summer break, discussing team selection, the thrill of hearing the national anthem, and looking ahead to the pool stages.

Mo, who has just won three consecutive Premiership Women’s Rugby titles, said missing out on the last World Cup made this year’s selection even more meaningful.

Guests in past series have included Springbok captain Siya Kolisi, Olympian Laura Kenny and England men’s player Danny Care.

Launched in 2020, The Good, The Scaz & The Rugby was one of the first women’s sport podcasts to break through with mainstream audiences, with Elma adding: “Sports podcasts can build communities and take fans deeper into the action, and this year, we’re going even bigger.”

The Good, The Scaz & The Rugby is available on all streaming platforms.
