Veteran political commentators Andrew Pierce and Kevin Maguire are launching a new weekly podcast, Pierce vs Maguire, launching this September.
The show will continue the fiery debates and banter the pair have shared for over 25 years across television, radio and print.
Pierce, consultant editor at the Daily Mail and mid-morning presenter on GB News, and Maguire, columnist for the Daily Mirror and New Statesman, first arrived on Fleet Street in the late 1980s.
Representing opposite sides of the political divide, they have witnessed and reported on decades of crises, scandals and shifts at Westminster while maintaining a dynamic mix of rivalry and camaraderie.
The new podcast will feature their weekly analysis of politics at the highest level, fuelled by their extensive contacts and daily reporting.
Topics will range beyond Westminster, touching on debates over the monarchy, Donald Trump and Brexit, with the duo bringing both humour and insider knowledge to their discussions.
Maguire is also a visiting professor of journalism at Sunderland University and has worked as chief reporter at The Guardian. Both are familiar faces on programmes such as Good Morning Britain, Question Time, Have I Got News For You and Jeremy Vine on 5.
Pierce vs Maguire is produced by Martin Frizell, the former This Morning and GMTV editor who produced six Prime Minister interviews and won the Royal Television Society Reporter of the Year award. Production facilities are by London’s Podcast House.
The series launches in early September as party conference season begins, initially weekly with fast turnaround episodes as events dictate, available on all major podcast platforms and YouTube.
