Where are you going podcast ends after more than 200 episodes

After more than 200 episodes and over a million downloads, the much-loved podcast Where Are You Going? is coming to an end this week.

The series, hosted by Catherine Carr, began in 2014 as a BBC World Service project before becoming an independent production with Loftus Media.

Over the past two and a half years it has built a loyal community of listeners, won awards, and earned glowing reviews for its conversations with people from around the world.

Stories captured on the podcast have ranged from the profound to the everyday, including a guest recounting the death of a friend aboard a superyacht, someone counting sausage dogs on Brighton seafront, a passenger remembering the love of their life on a New York subway, and another reflecting quietly on a life-changing diagnosis.

To mark the end of the series, the final episode features Financial Times critic Fiona Sturges in conversation with the show’s creator.

Together they reflect on how Where Are You Going? fits into the evolution of radio and podcasting over the past decade, share predictions about the future of the medium, and revisit memorable clips from the archive, including the very first episode recorded on Brighton beach.

The team behind the podcast say the experience of making it has been “joyful, moving and ultimately life-affirming,” and hope the conversations continue to resonate with listeners long after the final episode is released.
