Dish from Waitrose becomes most successful branded podcast globally

Dish from Waitrose has become the world’s most successful branded podcast, passing one billion combined downloads, views and listens since 2022.

Hosted by Nick Grimshaw and Angela Hartnett OBE, the show has released 165 episodes and is the only branded podcast appearing in both the Apple and Spotify top 100 charts globally, and the only branded podcast in the UK top 20.

Since launching in 2022, Dish from Waitrose has grown into a widely listened food and entertainment podcast, with the Tom Holland episode alone reaching 2.3 million listeners and overall listens up 35% year on year.

It is also reaching a younger audience, with almost 30% of UK podcast listeners and 35% of YouTube viewers under 35, and more people now watching than listening, reflecting the rise of video first podcasting.

Research conducted in May found that 78% of listeners said Dish from Waitrose encouraged them to shop more frequently at Waitrose.

It also found that higher engagement with episodes increases association with Waitrose helping listeners discover new products, food trends and cooking skills.

Nick Grimshaw, co-host of the podcast, reflected on the journey and the growing audience engagement around Dish from Waitrose audience.

“I love doing Dish. Getting to spend time laughing and learning with Angela has been one of my most favourite things I’ve ever done and I can’t believe it’s grown into this community,” he said.

“It feels special because we have become firm friends and our relationship has grown with our audience witnessing our growing love (and/or annoyance) for one another.”

Dish from Waitrose is available on all major podcast platforms and YouTube, continuing its distribution across audio and video formats.
