A new Audible Original drama, The Nox stars Lashana Lynch.
The Nox is a SciFi thriller set in 2045 in the Artic Circle, where a crew of six are on a voyage through the melting ice and Arctic dark in search of the last of the polar bears.
It was written by lead writer Joe White and co-writer Catriona Ward, who were inspired by the Mosaic Voyage, an Arctic research expedition that spent an entire year studying sea ice decline.
The story tells of a mission on board the research vessel, The Nox, representing hope in a world affected by climate change, but it quickly becomes clear that some on board are in search of more than bears.
Cracks start to appear after a crew member goes missing, and we begin to learn of inner demons faced by the crew members, including Eddie played by Ralph Ineson (The Green Knight, The Witch), Mai played by Kae Alexander (Game of Thrones) and ‘the Nox’ played by Michiel Huisman (The Flight Attendant, Game of Thrones).
Isolation and the disorientation of 24/7 darkness soon have the group losing their grip on reality – accidents, nightmares, or hauntings – no one can be sure, but the voyage seems cursed.
The mission turns from conservation to survival for Professor Clara Fitzgerald as she realises that there is danger not only out on the ice, but on The Nox itself.

“Having not done an audio drama before, I was so impressed with the twists and turns of the plot, the incredible sound design and the commitment of this amazing cast that really makes the audience feel like they are onboard The Nox, going through the experience with each character.
“The writing also allowed me to inject my own take on my character, Clara, and allowed me to explore a completely different side of acting. I never thought I’d be able to tick off a haunting thriller, with themes of betrayal, family consequences and inner demons faced by such well thought out characters in one fell swoop through voicing.
“I’m so glad that I’ve been a part of this incredible story that truly takes you on ride, whilst discussing climate change.”
