First daily podcast for US Cricket to launch covering 2024 MLC

The world’s first podcast dedicated to Major League and American cricket is set to launch, covering the 2024 Major League Cricket season.

Major League Cricket is a professional Twenty20 cricket league played in the United States since 2023, with six teams representing major US cities.

The second season of the tournament will begin on 5 July, four days after the conclusion of the 2024 ICC Men’s T20 World Cup. The matches will be played in Grand Prairie Stadium, Texas, and Church Street Park, North Carolina.

Across 20 episodes, the US Cricket Daily podcast sponsored by Clyde Hill Publishing, will feature expert analysis on the day’s play, plus guests from the cricket and entertainment worlds, in a format for both new and die-hard fans.

Hosted by acclaimed journalist and broadcaster Peter Della Penna, with support on the ground from Aaman Patel, widely regarded as one of the most promising young broadcasters in cricket, the podcast is a co-production between Square Cut Productions and Viral Tribe Entertainment.

John Ryley, co-founder of Square Cut says: “T20’s entry into America feels like a long overdue moment – the excitement, razzmatazz, and amazing sporting feats will see the game grow over the next decade.

“This podcast aims to capture the spirit of that T20 game and bring fans closer to the action, the players, and the stories behind the moments.

“By mixing expert analysis, exclusive interviews, and behind-the-scenes access, we hope to create a unique experience that not only informs but also entertains. It’s about building a community and sparking a love for cricket in a new generation of fans.”

Jon O’Donnell, chief executive of Viral Tribe Entertainment adds: “We’re delighted to be collaborating with the team at Square Cut on this incredibly exciting project, and our first venture directly aimed at the US market.

“Major League Cricket in America looks set to skyrocket post the T20 World Cup so we can’t wait to unleash this show to a highly engaged audience and build a whole new community of cricket fans in the US.”

Gregory Shaw, Founder and author at Clyde Hill Publishing says: “Cricket is emerging as one of the most exciting sports in America because it draws on what makes the country itself so exciting — it is a melting pot of talent and ambition.

“In the last century, baseball and cricket attracted large crowds in the U.S., and thanks to the MLC, cricket is again filling American stadiums. This podcast will keep fans informed, and train new ones.”

US Cricket Daily launches on 5 July.
