Laura Whitmore and Iain Stirling launch new true crime podcast

A new weekly BBC Radio 5 Live podcast with Laura Whitmore and Iain Stirling tells the stories of history’s most atrocious criminals.

In each episode of Murder They Wrote, true crime connoisseurs, broadcaster Laura and comedian Iain, choose a new despicable criminal and tell the story of their outrageous crimes.

Whether it’s the dentist-turned-hitman with a penchant for the dramatic, the kidnapper with a strange hiding place for his victims, or the 24-hour marriage that ended after a deadly honeymoon stroll, Laura and Iain will unravel the motives behind these cases.

Murder, blackmail, fraud, kidnapping, brainwashing, catfishing and more could all feature as the duo will take turns to share a new subject on the podcast each week.

Laura Whitmore said: “I’m so excited to bring our true crime obsession to BBC Sounds. I love the psychology of it all, getting into people’s mindsets and finding out what makes them tick.

“In our new podcast on BBC Sounds, Iain and I will take it in turns to surprise each other with tales of historical true crime cases that are sure to make the hairs on the back on your neck stand on end.”

Iain Stirling said: “If, like us, you’re curious about how a honeymoon turned into a horror story, or the curious case of the hitman dentist, then this is the podcast for you. Join us as we dive right into the past and encounter some of the darkest criminals in history.”

Murder They Wrote with Laura Whitmore and Iain Stirling is available weekly on BBC Sounds from 6 November.
