One of the founders of Podcast Radio, Paul Chantler has died

Tributes have been paid to radio consultant and one of those behind Podcast Radio, Paul Chantler who has passed away aged 64.

Paul had recently been diagnosed with liver cancer and died in Eastbourne General Hospital on Easter Sunday, having been admitted last week with breathing difficulties.

US study shows 81% positive over curated podcast content on radio

A US study commissioned by Podcast Radio found that 81% of respondents would be very likely or somewhat likely to listen to a radio station broadcasting curated podcasting content.

A description of Podcast Radio was tested via Coleman Insights’ Pod Predictor service, which measured among a panel of 500 18–64-year-old podcast consumers in the United States.

Podcast Radio US launches in four markets across the States

Beasley Media Group has partnered with Podcast Radio and KMG Networks to launch a new podcast multiplatform radio format in four regions across the company.

The unique format will be available to listeners via broadcast in multiple regions on Beasley stations.

Content can also be streamed from the first four custom stations via the PodcastRadioUS.com website.

Podcast Radio CEO Gerry Edwards reveals more on US launch

Speaking at the Podcast Movement conference in Denver, Colorado on Tuesday, Podcast Radio CEO Gerry Edwards revealed more about its US expansion.

Next month, Podcast Radio is launching a 24/7 US podcast format on FM and AM stations in four regions of North America, two of which are top 20 broadcast markets.

Making the announcement, Gerry said: “We are beyond excited to be partnering with a forward-thinking and innovative radio broadcasting company.

The Rathband Tapes episode exclusive for Podcast Radio

Podcast Radio is to exclusively play the first episode of The Rathband Tapes podcast.

It’s being aired to coincide with drama The Hunt for Raoul Moat on ITV this week.

For more than a decade, conversations between the late PC David Rathband and his ghost writer Tony Horne, recorded during the writing of the best-selling book Tango 190, have remained in a vault.

Podcast Radio enters content partnership with the National Trust

The agreement will see the station featuring podcasts about backpacking, cycle touring, walks, hikes and heritage houses.

Following the National Trust seeing and meeting Podcast Radio at the Podcast Show in London in May, the partnership was formed. The Trust is Europe’s largest conservation charity and looks after Britain’s nature, history and beauty.

The partnership will include interviews by one of Podcast Radio’s podjocks – US broadcast veteran Gene Baxter, a 30-year veteran of the KROQ morning show in Los Angeles.
