A new BBC Radio 1 podcast, Di’s Salon with Dianne Buswell will launch on 21 January on BBC Sounds.
Dianne is an Australian professional dancer who is known for her appearances on Strictly Come Dancing, but before this she was a full-time professional hairdresser. In her her new podcast she’ll be ‘going back to her roots’ inviting some famous faces to join her in a virtual salon.
The 12 weekly episodes will see celebrity guests looking back at their hairstyles through the years, before having a new ‘do.
Making it like a regular trip to the hairdresser, Dianne’s virtual cutting room will have hair defining moments and the typical chit chat with guests about their lives.
Guests include Joe Sugg, Talia Mar, AJ Odudu, Mary Fitzgerald (Selling Sunset), Mother Pukka, James McVey (The Vamps), Blu Hydrangea (RuPaul’s Drag Race), Megan Crabbe, Charlie Craggs, Russell Kane, Jayde Adams and Laura Adlington (Great British Bake Off).
Dianne says: “I am so excited to be launching my very own podcast with BBC Radio 1, Di’s Salon! I will be inviting celebrities to join me in the cutting room for a chat and a new ‘do – everyone knows that you do all your best talking with your hairdresser. Bring on the hair dye, kirby grips, hairspray and wigs!”
Because of the pandemic, the podcast series has been recorded remotely and the guests have been sent a DIY kit which includes the equipment required for the look they have chosen. During the podcast, Di will talk them through their desired style.
