Spotify is rolling out a major update to its mobile app, introducing new podcast discovery and engagement features aimed at both listeners and creators.
The update brings a more personalised Home feed experience, with tailored recommendations for audio and video podcasts now appearing just below a user’s shortcuts.
Some suggestions include notes on why they’re being recommended, with Spotify reporting early signs of increased user engagement.
A new Following Feed has also been introduced to help users keep track of their favourite shows. All the latest episodes from followed podcasts are now centralised within a dedicated feed in the Podcasts section on Home. Spotify says this is designed to reduce friction for users looking to stay up to date.
For creators, the platform now allows episode pages to include an “In This Episode” section with direct links to related content such as songs, audiobooks, playlists or other podcasts. This is intended to give audiences more depth and context while helping creators connect their work across formats.
Spotify is also enhancing its comments feature. Threads and emoji reactions have been added to allow more detailed conversations.
According to Spotify, listeners who comment or react consume twice as many episodes as those who don’t. Creators can manage the feature by choosing to opt out on a show or episode level via Spotify for Creators.
These global updates are available on iOS and Android and form part of Spotify’s wider strategy to make podcast discovery more personal and creator tools more powerful.
The platform says it wants the experience of finding a new podcast to feel like receiving a recommendation from a friend.
