ABC Audio’s new true crime podcast revisits chilling Ohio kidnapping case

ABC Audio and 20/20 have teamed up for a new true crime limited series, The Hand in the Window, hosted by veteran ABC News correspondent John Quiñones.

Launching next Tuesday, the podcast takes listeners back to rural Ashland, Ohio, where in September 2016 a desperate 911 call led to the rescue of a kidnapped woman and the unravelling of a serial killer’s crimes.

The series follows investigators as they track down Shawn Grate, the man behind the abduction. Among them was veteran sex crimes detective Kim Mager, whose 33-hour interrogation with Grate exposed horrifying details of his crimes.

What began as a rescue soon turned into a chilling confession to five murders across Ohio.

The Hand in the Window includes exclusive, extended audio from the original 911 call, as well as never-before-heard recordings from Detective Mager’s interrogation room, offering an insight into the investigation that shocked a community.

The Hand in the Window premieres Tuesday 4 November, available on all major podcast platforms.
