Accent academy launches free programme for audio creators in podcasting

A new podcast and radio production service, ACCENT has launched a free one-year academy programme for emerging creators.

The Accent Academy is open worldwide and will select a small number of participants to receive 12 months of support, with creators keeping 100% of their intellectual property.

Founded by James Brownlow, former audio lead at Global, Bauer and Wireless/News Corp, Accent combines editorial expertise with strategic thinking.

Based in Manchester, the company is already working with UK and Irish media partners and has connections in Australia, Canada and the UAE.

The Accent Academy is designed to help the next generation of audio creators build stronger formats, develop standout storytelling and grow their audiences. The programme includes format labs, content clinics, platform strategy, editorial innovation, leadership and creative coaching.

James Brownlow said: “Accent is that shift in tone or meaning that makes something land differently, and with real impact. Whether we’re creating originals or supporting in-house teams, we help work cut through with clarity, confidence and class.”

He added: “Helping people find their format, grow their audience, and realise they’ve built something meaningful is not only really important but is what we love doing.”

Accent also advises teams on how to integrate AI tools without losing the human core of storytelling. Brownlow explained: “AI is still a blind spot for many. At Accent, we help teams excel in human collaboration – and thrive in human-centred AI environments. Great audio starts with people, not just prompts.”

Applications for the Accent Academy are open now via thataccent.com, where details about partnerships are also available.
