Alan Carr launches new podcast with Lee Peart celebrating wine

Alan Carr is teaming up with Lee Peart for a new wine-fuelled podcast launching today.

Fresh from his appearance on The Celebrity Traitors, Alan Carr has joined forces with fellow comedian and long-time friend Lee Peart to launch Bottoms Up!

The new series they describe as the podcast equivalent of opening a bottle of Chablis with your closest friends.

The pair bill it as “a wine show for people who don’t own a decanter,” mixing conversation, curiosity and an amount of mischief as they get together for a gossip while trying to make sense of a world they have long enjoyed but never fully understood.

As they set out to demystify wine one glass at a time, they tackle questions such as whether it is ever acceptable to add ice cubes to rosé, and how to handle the awkward moment when a bottle ordered for the table tastes suspiciously like regret.

Each episode mixes genuine wine knowledge with the duo’s trademark humour, switching from clear explanations of tannins or tasting notes to tales of touring mishaps, unexpected discoveries and more.

“Half the time we’ve no idea what we’re drinking,” Alan says. “This podcast is a roundabout way of enjoying a glass together and trying to get a bit more wine savvy on the way.”

Lee adds: “There are loads of wine shows out there, but none where two idiots like us try a Barolo and then argue about which celebrity definitely owns a vineyard. We wanted something fun, welcoming and just a bit unhinged.”

Across the series the hosts explore bargain bottles and splash-out picks, decode jargon, and attempt blind tastings with help from wine experts, winemakers and the occasional celebrity guest.

They say they’re not trying to become experts but want to share the joy, surprises and occasional disasters hidden inside every bottle.

Bottoms Up! is a Listen production in partnership with Laithwaites and launches today, 26 November on YouTube, Spotify and all major podcast platforms.
