Audible is set to release a star-studded slate of UK comedy podcasts.
The list includes some of the greatest names in British comedy making their debut in podcasting.
Among those signing up to host and star in their own Audible Original series are Daisy May Cooper, Lolly Adefope, Mo Gilligan and Dara Ó Briain.
In addition to the new commissions, there are new series from the likes of From The Oasthouse: The Alan Partridge Podcast, The Kurupt FM Podkast, French and Saunders: Titting About and Jack Whitehall’s Safe Space.
“Audible is shaping up to be the home of comedy in 2023” says Aurelie de Troyer, Head of Content UK and Canada at Audible. “Alongside our existing critically-acclaimed and award-winning slate, we’re delighted to be investing in both up-and-coming voices, as well as bringing A-list British comic talent to our audience.”
In her first ever podcast, Educating Daisy, Daisy May Cooper invites celebrity guests including Tim Key, Diane Morgan and Katie Price to try to convince her to give their favourite classic novel a try… with mixed results.
Lolly Adefope’s Fanmail will see the actress and character comedian invite ‘fans’ and fellow celebrities to ask important questions like why do you love me so much and what is it about me that you love so much?
Also hosting his first podcast is comedian Dara Ó Briain. Timewasters is a new panel show format where fellow comics competitively offer up relatable stories of when their lives and time have been most comprehensively wasted – from weeks sunk on failed fitness fads, to hours frittered away on property websites angrily drooling over homes you will never live in.
Mo Gilligan’s Spotlight is a new stand-up show which will feature new names in British comedy. Each episode will be recorded live in a London comedy club, spotlighting some of the UK’s most exciting, but currently under-represented, comedic voices.
Also coming to Audible Plus are a number of stand-up specials, including Noel Fielding, Stewart Lee, Jo Brand, Eddie Izzard and more.
Dara Ó Briain’s Timewasters is releasing exclusively on Audible tomorrow, 27 April and the launch dates of the others will be revealed over the coming months.
