BBC News has released the first episode of The Global Story, a new daily international news podcast exploring the relationship between the United States and the wider world.
Hosted by journalists Asma Khalid, reporting from Washington DC, and Tristan Redman, based in London, the series airs each weekday morning and focuses on one key theme at a time.
By drawing on the BBC’s global network of reporters, it aims to provide listeners with both depth and context to understand how US decisions influence global events and how world affairs in turn shape the US.
The first episode, out today, features BBC International Editor Jeremy Bowen discussing two competing visions for Gaza and what may be possible on the ground.
Future episodes will continue to connect the dots between Washington politics and international developments, positioning the show as a daily briefing on how America interacts with the world stage.
The BBC says the show will explore how the world order is shifting, with alliances breaking down and new allegiances forming. The podcast will aim to highlight how US politics is both a driver and a reflection of this turbulence.
Episodes will be available every weekday at 10am BST (5am EST) on BBC Sounds for UK listeners, and globally via BBC.com, the BBC app, and all major podcast platforms.
