Bloomberg launches podcast exploring secrets behind government records

Bloomberg is launching a new investigative podcast series in partnership with No Smiling, to uncover the hidden stories behind US government records.

Disclosure is hosted by Bloomberg News investigative reporter Jason Leopold and First Amendment attorney Matt Topic.

The series goes inside the real-life use of public records laws, including the Freedom of Information Act, to expose how governments operate and spend taxpayer money.

Each episode gives a rare behind-the-scenes look at the challenges and surprises that come with accessing government documents.

From Russian pranksters tricking a senior official to reports of papers allegedly flushed down White House toilets, Disclosure promises to reveal the strange and often surprising results of transparency in action.

Leopold and Topic, both long-time advocates for open records, combine their expertise to highlight how persistence and law intersect in the pursuit of truth. The pair will show how public records can tell powerful stories that might otherwise remain hidden.

New episodes of Disclosure will be released every Tuesday following the launch on 28 October across all major podcast platforms, with Bloomberg subscribers getting early access to new episodes.
