Buzz 16 and Coral partner for podcast football fan quiz show

A brand-new football quiz show brings together fans, ex-players and celebrity supporters in a fast-paced YouTube format.

Call Yourself A Fan?, backed by Coral and produced by Buzz 16, the team behind The Overlap, is hosted by broadcaster Alex Brooker, well known for The Last Leg and Soccer Aid.

Each week, fans of a particular club will face a team made up of football legends and celebrity supporters. Together they will compete in a test of football knowledge and entertainment.

Among the guests lined up for the opening episodes are broadcaster Rick Edwards, former England winger Shaun Wright-Phillips, comedian Asim Chaudhry and Premier League winner Marc Albrighton.

Brooker said: “I’m so excited to be hosting Call Yourself A Fan? It’s such a fun show. I’ve loved playing along during our rehearsals and it’s a proper football quiz for football fans. I can’t wait to get started and put the knowledge of our celebrities, ex-pros and fans to the test.”

Coral senior brand manager Dan Chandley added: “Coral is proud to back Call Yourself A Fan? – a football podcast that fuses comedy, entertainment and real football knowledge. Above all, this is a celebration of the people who make the game what it is – the fans.”

Duncan East, managing director at Buzz 16, commented: “We are delighted to be partnering with Coral on this exciting new football quiz show.

“This is a show with the fans, for the fans, and with the hilarious Alex Brooker at the helm, we can’t wait to bring audiences that perfect mix of football, quiz and comedy, making Call Yourself A Fan? a brilliant, fun-filled football entertainment show for the YouTube community.”

The combination of football trivia, celebrity appearances and humour aims to make the show stand out among sports fans looking for light-hearted but competitive content. With YouTube and Spotify offering full episodes and clips pushed across social media, the creators hope it will become a weekly appointment for football fans everywhere.

Call Yourself A Fan? kicks off today, 12 September, with new episodes released every Friday on YouTube and also available on Spotify for Video. Highlights will appear on Facebook, Instagram and X.
