Chloe Straw to step down as CEO of AudioUK after landmark tenure

AudioUK has announced that Chief Executive Officer Chloe Straw will step down at the end of the year, marking the end of a transformative period for the trade body.

Since taking the role, Straw has overseen major growth in AudioUK’s visibility, influence and membership, driving national and international recognition for the UK’s podcast and audio sector.

She has led campaigns, partnerships and policy work that have helped position the industry as a vital part of the wider creative economy.

Under her leadership, AudioUK represented UK creators globally, helped secure government support through the Department for Culture, Media and Sport, and became a founding member of the International Podcast Alliance alongside France’s PIA.

She also introduced new BBC Terms of Trade, creating an important benchmark for podcasting rights and commercial opportunities.

Other milestones include the launch of the Pay What You Can scheme for the APAs in partnership with Amazon Music, the relaunch of the AudioTrain skills platform with the BBC, and new industry events such as Podcast Leaders Lunches and Pact x AudioUK: TV x Podcasting.

Reflecting on her time as CEO, Straw said: “It has been an honour and a joy to lead AudioUK, to witness and be part of the incredible evolution of this industry that I love… I look forward to seeing AudioUK continue to thrive and drive the future of podcasting and audio.”

AudioUK Chair Bernard P Achampong praised her impact, saying: “Chloe has been exceptional – a true advocate for the UK’s podcast and audio industry. Her vision and commitment have significantly strengthened the standing of independent creators.”

AudioUK will begin the recruitment process for a new CEO soon. In the interim, the company will continue to be led by Chair Bernard Achampong, Vice-Chair Hannah Brankin, and the AudioUK Executive Team.
