Danny Robins launches Uncanny Halloween special podcast and new series

Danny Robins’ hugely popular Radio 4 and BBC Sounds podcast Uncanny is returning this October with a Halloween special, recorded live at London’s BBC Radio Theatre.

The hour-long show, set to air on 31 October, will be the first ever staged in front of an audience and will kick off a brand new 10-part series of the hit paranormal podcast.

In the run-up to Halloween, listeners will also be treated to a daily dose of chilling short stories submitted by fans, appearing in the podcast feed throughout October.

The Halloween live recording will feature superfans from Team Sceptic and Team Believer, who will help tackle a new case centred on strange events across a Bath neighbourhood, where multiple residents claim to have experienced disturbing phenomena.

For the first time, audience members will be invited to join the investigation with Robins, alongside experts and a celebrity guest, while their reactions to every twist will be captured for social media.

Danny Robins said: “Halloween is like paranormal Christmas and there was no way we were going to let it happen without making it a really special Uncanny moment.

“This exciting live event will be deeply atmospheric and kicks off what I know so many people have been waiting for – a brand new full-length Uncanny series of 10 terrifying new episodes keeping you happily spooked out every week right up until the end of the year. I can’t wait to unleash the chills!”

BBC Commissioning Editor Rhian Roberts added: “We all get ridiculously thrilled about the return of Uncanny. Like our loyal audience we love the ‘Do I or don’t I believe in ghosts?’ as every story tests our scepticism or belief.

“With interest in marking Halloween increasing across the country, Uncanny is the place to build up to the moment together and then get scared silly together as well.”

The new series will feature paranormal tales including haunted roads, a Tudor house with sinister secrets, a terrifying encounter with the Men In Black, and a group of goths confronting a violent poltergeist.

The Uncanny Halloween special will be available on BBC Sounds and airs on BBC Radio 4 at 9pm on 31 October, with new weekly episodes every Tuesday from 4 November.
