Doctor’s Orders podcast uncovers fraud, murder, and a vanished doctor

Sony Music and Western Sound have released Doctor’s Orders, a new podcast about the dramatic rise and mysterious fall of Dr Munir Uwaydah.

He was accused of building a criminal enterprise worth over $250 million and linked, though never charged, to a notorious California murder case.

Hosted by journalist Ben Adair, the series explores Uwaydah’s double life as a charismatic surgeon and an alleged fraudster.

He owned a network of medical clinics in Southern California and became known for charming patients and associates alike. But behind his success, there were secrets, lawsuits, and a murder investigation that changed everything.

Doctor’s Orders looks at the 2008 killing of aspiring actress Juliana Redding and her connection to Uwaydah, who was reportedly her boss and secret lover.

The investigation led authorities down a twisting path of medical fraud, conspiracy, and personal betrayal. Uwaydah was never formally charged with Redding’s murder but remained central to the intrigue surrounding the case.

The podcast features never-before-heard interviews with Redding’s friends and family, alleged victims of Uwaydah’s surgeries, and the prosecutor leading the ongoing fraud case.

Adair, who is also executive producer at Western Sound, says the story took years to uncover.

“It took me and five reporters across three continents to track this story down,” he said. “Doctor’s Orders reveals the alleged criminality that occurred as Uwaydah built an alleged empire of fraud to the tune of over $250 million and then fled the country to avoid facing repercussions.”

The podcast explores how Uwaydah’s influence extended far beyond the operating room. Through first-hand accounts and investigation, the show raises key questions: Where is he now? How many people were affected? And how did such a massive operation go unchecked for so long?

Doctor’s Orders is available now. Subscribers to The Binge can hear the entire season now, while episodes will roll out weekly on major podcast platforms including Apple Podcasts and Spotify.
