Emily and Ned Hartford release climate change musical podcast Metra

Emily and Ned Hartford have released Metra: A Climate Revolution with Songs, a new climate change musical podcast.

The series blends myth, music, and magic to inspire collective action and hope.

Described by Broadway DNA as “an enrapturing original story” and praised by Blogcritics as “a brash, impactful fantasia,” Metra merges ancient mythology with futuristic themes, set in the year 2043.

The story follows a group of revolutionaries fighting for a better future in a world where performative climate action has failed and inequality has deepened.

Featuring a Broadway cast including Tony-nominee Jeannette Bayardelle, Fred Inkley, Cherrye J. Davis, and Corinna Schulenburg, Metra combines expertly designed soundscapes with a powerful narrative.

Emily Hartford wrote and directed the production, while Ned Hartford handled the original music, sound design, and production, creating a sonic experience that’s both cinematic and urgent.

Emily, who has spent seven years developing Metra through Flux Theatre Ensemble, said: “Metra is a story about radical transformations… about our power to change the story that’s been handed to us.

“We wanted to make a show that’s honest about the systems fuelling the climate crisis but also bold in its vision for the world we deserve.”

Ned added: “For at least 50 years, fossil fuel industry billionaires have systematically engineered the world’s economy for profit while decimating our climate. Emily and I wrote Metra because we want to tell that truth with music and brilliant voices while we still have the chance to take the power back.”

Metra is available on Apple Podcasts, Spotify, and other podcast platforms.
