Final episode of ‘Life, Interrupted’ podcast features Lynsey Crombie

The last in the series of Life, Interrupted with Simon Thomas is now live with guest TV’s Queen of Clean Lynsey Crombie.

Lynsey first came to prominence as a cast lead on Channel 4’s Obsessive Compulsive Cleaners in 2014, which was followed by a regular slot on ITV’s This Morning, as she teaches the nation her ingenious cleaning hacks and secrets.

She now has a devoted online following, with over 500k followers on social media and a new book, 15-Minute Clean, designed to highlight not only the benefits of cleaning but its therapeutic and enjoyable aspects.

In the episode, Lynsey discusses how her life changed when her first husband was arrested and charged with paedophilia which led to her becoming a compulsive cleaner as a way of coping with the trauma.

She looks back detailing how he was secretive and quite aggressive and how she was very much taken in by him. When he was arrested, Lynsey had no idea what was going on and she says that child protection became involved.

The trauma of the experience is how she became obsessed with cleaning, she says: “It was a complete and utter obsession with me. It was a constant need to clean.

“I constantly had a mop or a broom or something in my hand, and I think it was just like I was washing away the dirt, washing away the pain.

“That’s how I looked at it. It was uncontrollable, it was completely out of control. The smell of bleach…the headaches I used to get. It was totally out of control it was not normal behaviour.
