Reduced Listening has announced that Cait FitzSimons, former Editor of 5 News, will join Pod Save the UK as Executive Producer.
She will lead the production team and drive the show’s next stage of audience growth and editorial innovation.
FitzSimons brings a proven record in building news brands and reaching new audiences. During her tenure at 5 News from 2018 to 2023, she oversaw content strategy, led a diverse newsroom, and grew audiences through an expanded flagship programme and digital initiatives.
She also championed projects to engage under-served UK audiences, using data-driven insights to deliver inclusive and distinctive journalism.
Pod Save the UK, hosted by Nish Kumar and Coco Khan, is a political podcast in the progressive space, blending humour, hope, and credible reporting. The show combines commentary on current events with interviews featuring politicians, campaigners, and community leaders.
The podcast is a partnership between Crooked Media and Reduced Listening and is modelled on the US hit Pod Save America, offering a no-nonsense approach to political coverage.
Reduced Listening specialises in cultural and politics podcasts as well as music radio. Pod Save the UK releases new episodes every Thursday on all major podcast platforms.
Cait FitzSimons said: “I’m excited to join the talented Pod Save the UK team. Nish and Coco are distinctive, people-focused broadcasters, and humour is sometimes the only way to make sense of our shifting political landscape.”
Originally from the North East, she also advises Ofcom’s Making Sense of Media panel to help improve media literacy and challenge disinformation.
