Ghastly Women podcast joins Mercury and launches new season

Award-winning comedy podcast Ghastly Women has been acquired by Mercury Podcasts and returned for a brand-new season.

Hosted by comedians Esther Manito and Lily Phillips, the latest series promises to be the “filthiest and funniest yet”.

The opening episode tackles one of this year’s most talked-about stories – Kendra Licari, the woman featured in Netflix’s Unknown Number who was jailed for cyberbullying her own daughter.

The pair, known for their wild tangents and irreverent takes, are back in a new studio but remain as outrageous as ever.

The show’s producer, Alastair Clayton, said: “We started making this show during the pandemic and always played it by ear as to where it would go.

“Now, as we join the wonderful Mercury network and enter our eighth series, I feel like it’s the absolute best representation of two of the most unhinged hosts in comedy podcasting right now.”

Mercury Podcasts Founder and CEO Liam Heffernan added: “Ghastly Women is one of the funniest podcasts in the world, delivering a unique blend of true crime and comedy.

“Esther and Lily are exceptional comedians and two of the most down-to-earth people I’ve ever met, so bringing them to Mercury was a no-brainer.”

The series began as a tongue-in-cheek exploration of infamous women in history but has evolved into a chaotic mix of true crime, musical outbursts, cult fantasies, and delightfully unfiltered nonsense.
