Independent music podcast 101 Part Time Jobs reaches 400 episodes

101 Part Time Jobs, the independent music podcast, hearing artist stories in the streaming era, has published its 400th episode.

Songwriter, comedian and actor Tim Heidecker is the guest in the milestone episode of the podcast which, over the last four years, has featured IDLES, Self Esteem, Yard Act, Blossoms, Denzel Curry, KNEECAP, Jordan Rakei and hundreds of other artists.

Giles Bidder, host and founder of the podcast, said: “I started this podcast in my bedroom, and now we’re hearing from world-class headliners. Bringing authentic stories of independent artists is the core of what we do. The music world is changing and how artists survive is an increasingly questionable topic.”

“Whether it’s IDLES, Self Esteem, KNEECAP, Blossoms or Jordan Rakei, all artists are feeling their way through the streaming era and we’re here to document that in a way that’s entertaining and engaging. 400 episodes in, I’m more convinced than ever that this is a conversation worth hearing.”

The podcast sees Bidder (The i Paper, NME, Soho Radio) host conversations with a diverse range of musicians about the often-surprising jobs they’ve taken to reflect on and explore the commitment and inventiveness it can take for musicians to ensure that the show can go on.

By reflecting on his own experiences of being in a successful band which released four albums and toured the world, but never earned enough to make it a full-time career, Bidder knows which questions to ask his guests.

101 Part Time Jobs, supported by Signature Brew, is a gateway to understanding the grit and perseverance that musicians show in the face of an increasingly difficult industry to make a career in.
