Jake Shears launches second season of Queer The Music podcast

Jake Shears has launched season two of the hit audio-visual podcast series, Queer The Music with his first guest, Gossip’s Beth Ditto.

Their discussion is around the group’s groundbreaking punk-rock crossover, Standing In The Way Of Control. Written in response to the Federal Marriage Amendment (designed to outlaw same-sex marriage in the US), it’s a topical conversation as civil liberties are once again placed on the ballot in 2024.

Other guest lined up for the series include John Grant, Big Freedia, Jessie Ware and more surprises to follow soon. The new run will also include a live episode recorded with Nick Grimshaw at London’s The Phoenix Arts Club on 5 November with “top secret” special guests to be announced soon!

Tickets are available now for the live recording, with proceeds going to akt, the only national charity dedicated to providing support for LGTBQ+ young people facing homelessness.

Singer, songwriter, actor, writer and podcaster Jake Shears is best known as the lead singer of the multi platinum-selling, Grammy-nominated, Brit award-winning Scissor Sisters. He divides his time between London and New Orleans.

Queer The Music explores the LGBTQ+ anthems that have dominated dancefloors and helped shift politics, perception, and culture. In its second season, Jake digs deeper still into a community of creators that have made, and continue to make, life as we now know it.

Jake says: “What a joy this season of QTM has been. So excited to share these interviews with some of my favourite artists of all time, including some very special episodes filmed in New Orleans. Big Freedia, Beth Ditto…John Grant? I mean, it doesn’t get any better!”

Queer the Music is available on most podcast platforms and on YouTube.
