Scam Detectors is back for a second season, with former BBC journalist Jane Wakefield once again leading the charge against the rising tide of fraud.
Sponsored by anti-fraud AI company Featurespace, the podcast aims to expose the most dangerous scams and the people behind them.
Financial crime now accounts for around 40% of all criminal activity in the UK, contributing to an estimated £2.3 billion in annual losses.
Each episode of Scam Detectors explores a different scam, from romance frauds to cryptocurrency schemes, and examines how criminals exploit technology, emotion, and trust to deceive unsuspecting victims.
Jane Wakefield will be joined throughout the series by a mix of experts, victims, and household names, all sharing real-life experiences and insights from the front line of fraud prevention.
The podcast also features contributions from fraud investigators, banking professionals and law enforcement specialists who are working daily to keep consumers safe.
The first episode of the new season features Becky Holmes, author of Keanu Reeves Is Not in Love With You, alongside Suzanne Lynch and Featurespace’s fraud expert Steve Goddard. Together, they unpack the psychology of online scams and explore why so many intelligent people still fall victim to them.
Episode two will feature investigative journalist Jamie Bartlett, known for exposing the notorious OneCoin cryptocurrency fraud in the hit BBC podcast The Missing Cryptoqueen. His conversation promises to dig even deeper into how high-level financial crime continues to evolve despite increasing regulation and awareness.
Jane Wakefield says the goal of Scam Detectors is not just to inform but to empower listeners.
