Jermaine Jenas and Jermaine Pennant launch new football podcast

Former England internationals Jermaine Jenas and Jermaine Pennant are launching a new show, Wildcards.

Featured in the weekly podcast will be fantasy football obsession with real-life dressing room stories, transfer gossip, and the chaos of the beautiful game.

The show promises to “rip the roof off your fantasy football group chat”, with banter, rivalry, and behind-the-scenes insight from two players who have experienced the sport at the highest level.

Episodes will be released every Friday, hosted on Sport Social and produced by Pivot Productions Group – the media company Jenas co-founded to develop IP-led formats with standout talent.

Jenas says the pair are “bringing the arguments, the disasters, and the madness from our own FPL group chat into the spotlight with no filter.” Pennant adds: “We’re giving football fans access to the kind of chat they wish they heard on TV.”

There will be four core elements each week: fantasy league drama, unfiltered football stories, insider access, and weekly mayhem. That means tales from England camps and Premier League dressing rooms, voice notes and rumours direct from training grounds, and sharp reactions to the latest transfers.

There will also be forfeits, hot takes, and fan shout-outs, with both hosts fiercely competitive in their Fantasy Premier League battles.

The chemistry between Jenas and Pennant comes from years of friendship and shared experiences in top-flight football, now channelled into a format that blurs the lines between FPL rivalry and real-world football culture.

Stefan Doyle, Head of Sport Social Podcast Network, said: “We’re thrilled to be hosting the show on the Sport Social Podcast Network and bringing JJ and Pennant’s unfiltered take on the game to fans each week. We’re excited to watch this community of football and Fantasy Premier League fans grow.”

Wildcards will be available from Friday 15 August on YouTube, Spotify, Apple Podcasts, and all major podcast platforms.
