Max Richter debuts new Apple Music show Songs of a Jumping Universe

Max Richter is launching a new five-part series, The Songs of a Jumping Universe, on Apple Music Chill.

The first episode airs at 1pm BST today, Friday 1 August. The show will broadcast every two weeks, with each one-hour episode guiding listeners through connections between centuries of global music.

Known for blending classical music with electronic innovation, Richter brings his signature style to radio in a show designed to challenge, inspire and soothe.

From Renaissance compositions to contemporary electronica, each episode will feature music from across genres, times and cultures, curated through Richter’s unique choices.

“Music is a beautiful borderless art form, and it can teach us a lot about the world and the possible connections between things that appear different,” said Richter. “Making these connections between the seemingly disparate and different is one of the great joys of being around music.”

Each episode also includes a single track from Sleep Circle, a new 90-minute suite created by Richter by reworking material from his chart-topping album Sleep. However, this is the only music from Richter featured in the series, which is otherwise focused entirely on his hand-picked selections from around the world.

The show joins Apple Music Chill’s line-up of curated calm from leading tastemakers including Brian Eno, Zane Lowe and Stephan Moccio. The station is designed to provide moments of mindfulness and focus throughout the day.

The Songs of a Jumping Universe will be available on demand for Apple Music subscribers via Apple Music and Apple Podcasts.
