Mercury Podcast Network expands true crime slate with new signings

Mercury Podcast Network is marking the start of this year with the launch and acquisition of three major true crime podcasts.

The UK-based creator-led network is adding Rae Review: Dark Stories, Seeing Red, and Dead Famous to its growing slate. The signings represent a significant step forward for Mercury as it continues to scale its support for independent podcasters.

Founded by audio producer and podcast creator advocate Liam Heffernan, Mercury Podcast Network focuses on giving independent creators the infrastructure, strategic guidance and creative freedom needed to build profitable podcasts while retaining ownership and editorial control.

Rae Review: Dark Stories launches as a new Mercury original on 14 January. The weekly series is hosted by Rae Review, one of the fastest-growing true crime influencers in the world, with almost two million followers across social platforms.

Each episode explores true crime, dark history and the complexities of human behaviour through carefully researched and calmly narrated storytelling.

Rae Review says the podcast allows her to go deeper than short-form content, offering listeners more nuance and depth while continuing the storytelling that has driven her online success.

Also joining the network is Seeing Red, one of the UK’s longest running and most downloaded true crime podcasts.

Hosted by Mark and Bethan, the show has passed 16 million downloads since launching in 2018 and has built a large international audience. It will continue its weekly release schedule under Mercury, alongside early access episodes and bonus content for Patreon supporters.

Completing the trio is Dead Famous, a new podcast launching on 12 January. Created and hosted by Mark Randell, the series examines the lives, deaths and legacies of some of the world’s most iconic celebrities, combining biography, true crime and cultural history.

Liam Heffernan says: “True crime remains one of the most powerful storytelling spaces in audio, but it demands creators who approach it with care, depth, and integrity.

“Rae Review, Mark, and Bethan are among the most compelling voices working in the genre today, and we’re incredibly proud to welcome them to Mercury.

“These partnerships mark an exciting step forward for the network and for the independent creator community we’re building.”
