Some of the world’s most elite Rule Breakers join Michelle Visage for the new series of her podcast, on BBC Sounds.
In the first episode, reality TV star Katie Price talks to Michelle about her filing for bankruptcy, admitting she would rather go to prison than keep going to court.
Katie said: “I’ve been to court more times and I’ve had hot dinners lately and I am not scared of court anymore. And I have said, can’t you put me to prison just to cover it all and just be done with it.
“I’m fed up with the reminders and why I’m in it. ‘Sorry Kate, we can’t do that’. I genuinely don’t care if I go to prison for it. Because it’s done then. And I love all the prison stuff and I can experience what it’s like in there and I’m like, I could do a story when I come out with me in prison and it’s a win-win situation isn’t it.”
Katie and Michelle also discuss their time in the Big Brother house, recalling when Katie’s body started to reject one of her breast implants and reveals why she refused to quit, even when it was feared she had sepsis.
“I was so poorly. And the surgeon, he flew over three times a week to dress it,” says Katie. “The day before the live, they said I might have sepsis and they wanted to watch and see if I had a temperature.
“I’m like ‘no! I don’t want to leave’ and I remember Kate saying something like ‘why don’t you leave? It’s not like you need the money’. And I’m thinking, it’s not about the money. If you’ve got this far you want to stay until the end,” she adds.
The new series also features A-listers Melissa McCarthy, Hannah Waddingham, Kesha, Elliot Page and more. Each guest shares their own rebel wisdom as Michelle goes deep to find out what rules they’ve broken to change their world.
The first five episodes feature candid encounters with Hollywood actress Melissa McCarthy on the influence of drag on her work, actor Elliot Page on his experience coming out as trans, pop megastar Kesha on Dolly Parton and working with super producer Rick Rubin, and singer-songwriter Jessie Ware on growing older and her love of Judaism.
Michelle Visage’s Rule Breakers is available only on BBC Sounds from today, 14 August.
