Mike and Tom Eat Snacks podcast returns with new episodes

Realm has announced the return of Mike and Tom Eat Snacks, the cult favourite comedy podcast hosted by actor-comedians Michael Ian Black and Tom Cavanagh.

Affectionately known as MATES, the show is relaunching after a break since 2023 with weekly episodes available in both audio and video.

The podcast has always kept to its simple formula: Mike and Tom eat snacks and talk about them. What began as an offbeat idea quickly grew into a phenomenon, with the duo’s commitment to “snackology” building a loyal audience.

Tom Cavanagh said: “I’m hungrier than ever, and snacking is a tremendous way to get fit. And what better way to work out than alongside a best bud, under the warm and welcoming Realm umbrella.” Michael Ian Black added: “I’m just excited to eat something.”

Realm is also launching The MATES Club, a premium subscription for superfans, offering ad-free listening, bonus episodes, extended cuts, “snack-along” experiences and behind-the-scenes material.

Back catalogue episodes will also be revisited with new introductions, giving long-time listeners a chance to rediscover old favourites.

The company says the relaunch will also bring new “Wacko Snacko” editions, theme-based snack explorations and the kind of off-the-rails humour that helped cement the podcast’s reputation.

Realm’s VP Mary Assadullahi said the relaunch has been “a blast, not just as fans, but as partners in reimagining what a beloved show can become.”

New episodes launch on 3 September across all major podcast platforms, a new MATES YouTube channel, and via The MATES Club subscription on Supporting Cast and Apple Podcasts.
