Bloomberg has launched The Mishal Husain Show, a new flagship global podcast as part of Bloomberg Weekend, the company’s weekly ideas and culture section.
Each episode will feature an in-depth conversation with a newsmaker, leader, cultural figure or thinker, exploring the people and ideas shaping the world.
The podcast builds on Husain’s existing Bloomberg Weekend interviews, which began with Elon Musk in May and have since included a diverse range of guests.
The series will continue to appear in text form with annotations from Husain on Bloomberg.com, the Bloomberg Terminal and major podcast platforms.
Recent interviews by Husain for Bloomberg have featured UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer, former Australian and Malaysian Prime Ministers Malcolm Turnbull and Mahathir Mohamad, and creative figures Shonda Rhimes and Jesse Armstrong.
Her text interviews have proved popular among Bloomberg subscribers for their added depth and commentary.
The podcast launches the same week Husain delivers the prestigious Romanes Lecture at the University of Oxford, joining a list of past speakers including Winston Churchill and Tony Blair.
“The launch of the show is deeply resonant for me,” said Husain. “We’ll be able to have conversations of range, depth and consequence, and I hope we will soon prove to be an essential and trusted weekly listen.”
Katherine Bell, executive editor of Bloomberg Weekend, said: “Mishal’s curiosity and fearlessness as an interviewer are exactly what we need right now to help make sense of our chaotic and complicated world.”
David Merritt, Head of Media Editorial at Bloomberg, added: “The Mishal Husain Show will be the cornerstone of Bloomberg Weekend, which is celebrating its first birthday and rapidly growing into a leading part of our offering to digital subscribers.”
The Mishal Husain Show launches on 17 October.
