Mo Gawdat is guest on Working In with Heights podcast

Working In with Heights podcast host Dan Murray-Serter welcomes author of ‘Solve for Happy’, former Chief Business Officer at Google X, founder of the one billion happy movement, investor, and host of Slo Mo the podcast, Mo Gawdat on the latest two-part episode.

Mo shares the influence behind his mission to make one billion people happy, as well as how to effectively manage emotional thoughts.

He talks about the tragic loss of his son aged 21 and how it affected him, explaining that instead of grieving, he wrote a book that described what they had learned about happiness together. It became his mission to deliver Ali’s message to 10 million people.

“The first step to manage emotional thoughts, is to get in touch with you,” explains Mo,  “I have regular meetings with myself that I call meet Mo – I sit with myself and like a friend would, I really get to know me. I look at who I am, what I’m made up of, and through this I understood that I grew up in a certain environment that conditioned me in ways,” he adds.

Mo talks about how we’re conditioned to not show our emotions because it makes us look vulnerable, but really, it’s our actions, not our emotions that make us appear that way.

Once you acknowledge that, he says it’s absolutely okay to feel guilty about something, what matters is what you’re going to do about it – the rest becomes super easy.
