Naomi Shimada to host new podcast series on BBC Sounds

Model and author Naomi Shimada is to host a new podcast series which will explore some of the most pressing representation issues in the fashion and beauty industry.

In each episode of Beauty Fix, Naomi will meet the models, influencers and campaigners who know how to get their beauty fix, while showing that beauty is anything but fixed!

Discussions include: embracing natural hair with model and activist Ebonee Davis, celebrating skin tones with Queer Eye’s Tan France, sustainable beauty with Dr. Richard Blackburn, fashion for all with campaigner Sinéad Burke, inclusive make-up with beauty blogger Gary Thompson, aka The Plastic Boy, bald beauty with make-up artist Emmy Combs, unfiltered beauty with model Kadeeja Khan, carefree body hair with model Deba Hekmat, Nail Transphobia with activist Charlie Craggs, and ageless fashion with legendary designer Dame Zandra Rhodes.

Naomi says: “So often when we speak about beauty, it’s about glamour, hair, make-up and the aesthetics of someone’s face. But beauty to me is something so intrinsic, something that comes from so deep within us and exudes out, which makes everyone beautiful in their own way.

“I’m hoping that’s what people hear in the podcast – stories of survival from different people, all finding their own ways to feel beautiful, by feeling free to be themselves.”

Beauty Fix will launch on BBC Sounds Friday 26 February.
