New International Podcast Alliance launches to unite global creators

A new global coalition has been launched to unite the world’s podcast and audio production industries.

The International Podcast Alliance brings together professional organisations representing producers, publishers, and businesses from across multiple countries, marking a major step toward greater international collaboration in the podcast sector.

The IPA is the result of a partnership between France’s PIA (Syndicat des Producteurs Professionnels et Indépendants de l’Audio) and the UK’s AudioUK to create a global platform to strengthen dialogue, share market insights, and address the common challenges faced by producers and publishers.

Its founding members also include Podd- och radioproduktionsbolagen (Podcast and Radio Production Companies) in Sweden, ABIQ (Association du Balado Indépendant du Québec) in Canada, and the Collectif des producteurs et des productrices belges francophones in Belgium.

These groups have committed to collaboration in areas including benchmarking, best practice, and advocacy, while encouraging more national organisations to join in the months ahead.

The IPA’s mission includes promoting fair platform practices, improving legal recognition for independent producers, supporting access to public funding, and strengthening international dialogue within podcasting. It will provide a unified voice on global and European policy issues affecting the audio industry.

“The podcast is a global phenomenon, growing everywhere with the same creative energy and the same structural challenges from the lack of legal status to the absence of fair value sharing,” said Katia Sanerot, President of PIA. “Some answers will be found locally, but many of tomorrow’s solutions will have to be built together, at an international level.”

Chloe Straw, CEO of AudioUK, added: “Collaboration is one of the key drivers of growth in the podcast and audio industry.

“It’s exciting to see us come together as a global alliance to grow this fantastic sector by sharing expertise, championing best practice, and driving innovation.”

The IPA will hold quarterly virtual meetings and annual in-person gatherings hosted in different countries, providing opportunities for global exchange while maintaining each organisation’s independence.

The first official virtual meeting will take place on 17 November 2025 at 15:00 CET, where founding members will set priorities and outline joint working methods.

The Alliance is also extending an open call to other non-profit podcast organisations representing producers and publishers worldwide.

Its goal is to build a strong international forum supporting a fair, diverse, and sustainable global podcast industry, one that reflects the shared ambitions of independent creators across borders.
