The Podcast Host is to hold a one-day virtual event to deliver and discuss the results of a recent podcast census.
The Indypod Summit ’23 will now take place on 2 February with the first 500 registrations being free.
With panel discussions, deep dives and workshops, the one-day event will share insights into the Indypod Census, which was launched last November, and also discuss the future of independent podcasting.
Results gathered from over 760 responses from people in six different continents between the ages of 18-50+ will be broken down and The Podcast Host will share goals for the industry in 2023.
Speakers announced so far include Elsie Escobar (She Podcasts and Libsyn), Arielle Nissenblatt (head of community and content Squadcast.fm), and Jeremy Enns (Podcast Marketing Academy).
Colin Gray, founder of The Podcast Host says: “A lot of the research around podcasting is currently skewed towards mid-level and highly successful podcasts. Which is understandable, given how much easier it is to reach and engage podcasts that are run as or for a business. But the problem is that we risk missing out on a huge and important section of the industry: the beginners, part-timers, and side hustlers in podcasting.
“As a company, supporting and empowering independent podcasters (or ‘Indypodders’!), has always been our mission.
“The Indypod Census, and now our new online conference, IndyPod Summit, are part of this mission, as we bring independent podcasters into the arena. We want to hear the voice of every indypodder, from as many corners of the industry as possible, so that they can have their say and play a part in shaping the evolution of the industry.
“If we can gather those insights, those reflections and gauge their mood, then it can help to craft an industry that serves them, and that anyone can be proud to be a part of.”
The event will be packed full of value for independent podcasters, plus all attendees will have a chance to win podcast gear just by turning up!
