New podcast from charity Smart Works explores power of clothing

Women’s employment charity, Smart Works is launching a new podcast exploring the transformative power of clothing.

Fashion As A Force For Good is hosted by renowned fashion journalist and Smart Works supporter Tiffanie Darke. Her guests on the podcast include Angela Scanlon, Gemma Cairney, Felicity Hayward, Jo Elvin, Emma Gannon and Gina Martin. Each of them delves into their relationship with fashion, the power of clothing and the transformative role clothes have played at key moments in their careers.

Tiffanie Darke said: “The power of clothes to change the way you feel about yourself is a trait all women understand. But the power of clothes to change your life? Yes, they can.

“The guests on this series have some incredible stories and it has been my absolute pleasure to share them. I hope you enjoy our conversations as much as we did.”

Smart Works CEO, Kate Stephens added: “Harnessing Fashion as a Force for Good sits at the heart of Smart Works. Over the last ten years, we have proven that when a woman looks and feels her best, she can transform her life: 69% of our clients get the job within a month of their visit.

“We hope this podcast will bring the Smart Works story to more women. As the need for our service is more pronounced than ever, we couldn’t be more grateful to our wonderful host Tiffanie, and every guest involved for helping us to spread the word.”

Smart Works use the power of high-quality clothing and one-to-one coaching to give unemployed women the confidence they need to reach their full potential, get the job and transform their lives.

The charity was founded in 2013 in London and has since expanded to 11 centres across the UK. As the charity works towards its mission of helping 10,000 women a year by 2025, the podcast will help spread awareness about the Smart Works service and the ethos behind it, ultimately raising awareness of how listeners can support unemployed women across the UK.

Episode one of Fashion As A Force For Good features Angela Scanlon and will be released on Thursday 6 July with future episodes released weekly thereafter.
