New podcast tells how first US black female prosecutor took down mobster

The Godmother is the story of Eunice Carter, the first black woman to become a prosecutor in America.

Eunice was the woman responsible for bringing Lucky Luciano, one of American history’s most notorious mobsters, to justice. Like many black women who changed the course of history, her story has largely been forgotten – until now.

This is a different kind of mobster story. In fact, the story isn’t about the mobster at all. It’s about the person who put him away.

Written and hosted by American poet, writer and podcaster Nichole Perkins and produced by Leona Hameed, The Godmother consists of eight episodes.

It is produced by Novel for iHeartRadio and will be available on their True Crime+ Subscription feed. The first episode will be released publicly on 15 January on all podcast platforms.
