New true crime podcast from ITV News: Catching Melanie’s Killer

A new true crime podcast from ITV News, Catching Melanie’s Killer explores the inside story of how detectives brought the killer of 17-year-old schoolgirl Melanie Road to justice.

Melanie was found stabbed in the city of Bath in 1984. It prompted one of the largest manhunts in Britain.

What followed was an investigation which touched the hearts of many and consumed the lives of the detectives who worked on it.

It took 32 years before her killer was brought to justice.

The podcast’s eight episodes include rare and revealing interviews, deathbed confessions and scientific leads which proved to be too good to be true.

Detectives involved in the case and Melanie’s family are heard in the podcast. It tells of the wrong turns, the false leads and how detectives on the case lost hope when a chief constable told them to drop the case.

It also includes the moment in court when Melanie’s family confront the killer and describe what it’s been like living with unanswered questions for three decades.

The first two episodes of Catching Melanie’s Killer are available now from Apple and Spotify or where you get your podcasts, with future episodes released every Tuesday.
