Paul Scholes, Nicky Butt and Paddy McGuinness launch football podcast

Manchester United legends Paul Scholes and Nicky Butt have teamed up with comedian and broadcaster Paddy McGuinness to launch The Good, The Bad & The Football.

The new weekly podcast features 90s football nostalgia with no-nonsense takes on today’s game.

The format combines Scholes and Butt’s unmatched insight into elite football with McGuinness’s down-to-earth voice of the fans.

As Treble-winning teammates with Manchester United, Scholes and Butt bring stories from careers that earned them a combined total of 17 Premier League titles, six FA Cups and three Champions League medals.

Alongside them, McGuinness represents the terraces rather than the punditry box, asking the questions that supporters want answered.

Episodes will feature discussion of the week’s biggest football stories, exclusive guest appearances, and behind-the-scenes tales from dressing rooms and match days.

Guests will include former teammates, opponents, and even some of McGuinness’s connections from his time playing in Soccer Aid to create a mix of expert analysis, insider stories, and the kind of banter usually found among friends at the pub or on the stands.

Speaking ahead of the launch, McGuinness said: “I’ve always loved football – playing it, watching it, and most of all, talking about it.

“Sitting down with Scholesy and Butty every week is a dream come true. Trust me, these two have seen it all, and they’re not afraid to tell it how it is.”

Scholes added: “We have been looking forward to this and can’t wait to give our honest views and opinions on the game we all love…with maybe a few stories from behind the dressing room door.”

Butt said: “Expect some spirited arguments, lively debates, plenty of banter, interesting guests, animated storytelling but most of all good honest football chat and we can’t wait to share it.”

Clips from each episode will also be shared across YouTube, Instagram, TikTok and Facebook, so fans can continue the conversation throughout the week.

The series launches today, 15 September at 6pm, and will be available every Monday on all major podcast platforms and YouTube.
