Murder in Åland, PodX Group’s first multilingual co-production, created in partnership with Goldhawk Productions in the UK and Suomen Podcastmedia in Finland has launched.
The ambitious new thriller includes English and Finnish versions in a gripping story of crime, espionage and political tension.
Set in the stark yet striking Åland archipelago, a demilitarised Finnish territory where Swedish is the official language and Russia is across the Baltic, the drama begins with a seemingly routine murder investigation.
Criminal investigator Pekka Jaakkola, sent from Helsinki, soon discovers the case reaches far beyond the islands, threatening geopolitical stability across the West.
Jaakkola’s aggressive city methods quickly alienate the local community, forcing him into an unlikely partnership with Astrid Lindholm, a blind, retired Swedish police officer.
Astrid specialises in audio forensics, and as the pair study recordings of storms, wind and even submarines, they uncover chilling evidence of espionage, betrayal and conspiracy.
Produced with Goldhawk’s trademark immersive sound design, Murder in Åland combines political intrigue, human drama and rich atmospheric detail.
The English-language version has launched on BBC Sounds, and the Finnish version will premiere at the beginning of 2026.
