Reggie Watts headlines episode 500 of The Comedian’s Comedian Podcast

The Comedian’s Comedian Podcast is marking its 500th episode with Reggie Watts as the featured guest.

Hosted by Stuart Goldsmith, the long running comedy interview podcast is celebrating the milestone across this year, reflecting more than a decade of conversations with comedians about creativity, performance, and the realities of working in comedy.

Launched in March 2012, the podcast has built a reputation for in depth discussions that go beyond promotional interviews, focusing instead on how comedians develop material, navigate careers, and manage the pressures of a creative life.

Over the years, guests have included Dara Ó Briain, Bill Burr, Sindhu Vee, Sarah Millican, and Patton Oswalt, helping the show become a respected archive of contemporary comedy voices.

The 500th episode features an extended conversation with Reggie Watts, recorded ahead of his headline London shows at Soho Theatre Walthamstow.

During the interview, Watts discusses how television can struggle to translate improvisational comedy to the screen, and why that tension continues to shape how experimental performers approach mainstream platforms.

He also reflects on creating his role on The Late Late Show with James Corden on his own terms, and his frustration at feeling underused during his appearances on Comedy Bang! Bang!.

The conversation explores why no two Reggie Watts shows are ever the same, and how working with smaller creative teams can allow artists to take greater risks and produce braver work.

Goldsmith’s approach has long centred on giving guests time and space to explore ideas fully, which has helped the podcast sustain its audience across hundreds of episodes without shifting away from its original format.

This year will also see a number of returning guests, including Rhod Gilbert, Sara Pascoe, James Acaster, Fern Brady, and Nish Kumar, alongside Brett Goldstein, who is also set to appear.

Alongside new audio episodes, the podcast is expanding its archive by releasing video episodes on YouTube for the first time.

These will include past recordings such as Bo Burnham’s 2014 appearance, offering listeners and viewers a chance to revisit earlier conversations in a new format.

Episode 500 is released on all major podcast platforms on 29 January, marking the official milestone point in the show’s history.
