The Resonate Podcast Festival and Tink Media are partnering to launch Pitch Party, a new podcast feed designed to spotlight and support independent narrative audio creators.
The initiative gives emerging podcasters the chance to have their pilot episodes heard by production companies and audiences alike, with the potential to secure funding and development deals.
Pitch Party builds on the annual Resonate Pitch Party competition, presented by VPM Media and organised by the Institute for Contemporary Art at Virginia Commonwealth University.
Each year, three creators pitch their story-driven podcast ideas live at the festival for a chance to win $10,000 to produce their pilot.
The event has already proven its power as a launchpad, with one 2024 finalist securing a production contract after impressing an industry representative in the audience.
Every episode of the Pitch Party podcast will showcase a new pilot from an independent producer, offering production companies a curated space to discover talent.
Listeners will also gain insight into the craft of narrative storytelling through bonus episodes featuring interviews with the creators behind each show.
“Resonate has become known for its belief in narrative audio,” said festival founder Chioke I’Anson. “We’ll put indie pilots into one feed and send it to the companies we’ve connected with. It’s a public initiative to connect creators with opportunity and show our support for artistic storytelling.”
Tink Media is partnering with the VPM+ ICA Community Media Center and Resonate to produce and promote Pitch Party. Founder Lauren Passell said, “Pitch Party could not be more aligned with Tink’s passion—supporting indie creators who are making some of the best work in audio.”
Launching on 10 October, Pitch Party will release new episodes weekly across all podcast platforms.
