The Scarred For Life podcast has returned for its fourth season with comedian Al Murray as the opening guest.
Inspired by the popular book series examining unsettling pop culture moments of the 1970s and 1980s, the podcast is hosted by Absolute Radio’s Andy Bush. It features well-known personalities who reveal three chilling or disturbing memories from their childhood.
Each episode takes listeners back to a time when television, film, and cultural events often left lasting impressions, whether through children’s programming, horror influences or strange public safety campaigns.
The podcast has already welcomed a number of high-profile guests, including Michael Sheen, Alice Lowe from Little Britain, Sherlock and Black Mirror, and filmmaker and comedian Joe Cornish.
Recollections from guests highlight the odd, frightening, and sometimes surreal content that shaped the childhoods of an entire generation.
For the first episode of the new season, Al Murray, best known for his long-running Pub Landlord character, and set to tour the UK in 2026 with his new stage show All You Need is Guv!, shares three of his own scar-inducing cultural moments.
These include terrifying French public information films about rabies, the haunting of Borley Rectory, and a memorable Blue Peter segment featuring John Noakes scaling Nelson’s Column.
Season four also introduces a brand-new membership product aimed at fans who want more exclusive content.
Members will receive a fortnightly bonus episode, access to ad-free versions of the podcast, a monthly newsletter, and participation in a private online discussion forum.
