The Players women’s football podcast from BBC Sport and COPA90 is set to return for its second series.
Hosted by former New Zealand World Cup and Olympic Captain Bex Smith, series two will include more big names from the women’s game talking much more than just about football. Bex will find out what makes the players tick, diving into mentalities and personalities beyond the pitch.
Fans will also be able to put questions to their favourite players, with the first opportunity to do so later this week, with a one-off COPA90 webinar event, The Players – Friends & Family.
Izzy Christiansen (Everton & England), Ceylon Andi Hickman (Football Beyond Borders), Felicia Pennant (Season Zine) and Pippa Grange (psychologist, author and Chief Culture Officer at Right to Dream) will all join Bex for a conversation about resilience, starting at 5pm this Wednesday 10 March.
Bex Smith says: “Series one of The Players Podcast invited fans behind the scenes of our game, with discussions that resonated with people far beyond the white lines of the football pitch. These game-shifting, change-provoking conversations proved that women’s football is filled with some huge role models – and plenty of fascinating characters.
“Series two will welcome an even wider, more diverse display of voices in and around the game. I seriously can’t wait to see what our community has to say about it.”
The opening episode will be released on Wednesday 17 March. A new episode will be released every Wednesday thereafter on BBC Sounds.
Throughout the series, additional content related to The Players will be available on COPA90 (@copa90), BBC Sport (@bbcsport) and BBC 5 Live Sport (@5liveSport) platforms.
