Sir David Suchet narrates a new Noiser audio drama series launching 1 December.
Best known for bringing Agatha Christie’s Hercule Poirot to life, Sir David is lending his voice to a new nine-episode audio drama, Charles Dickens’ Ghost Stories, created by award-winning UK podcast network Noiser.
The series revives seven of Dickens’ most atmospheric tales, each kept in its original form to retell stories that have captivated audiences for generations.
It begins with a double episode of A Christmas Carol, widely regarded as one of the most frequently retold festive stories of redemption.
New episodes will follow weekly, with The Signal-Man, a ghostly tale inspired by a real train accident that deeply unsettled Dickens and was first published at Christmastime 1866, and The Trial for Murder, a dark account of justice reaching beyond the grave.
Also featured are The Ghost in the Bride’s Chamber, exploring secrets, love, and lingering presences, and A Madman’s Manuscript, the disturbing narrative of a man in a Victorian asylum tormented by the ghost of his dead wife.
The version of A Christmas Carol performed by Suchet is of particular note, as it follows the script Charles Dickens himself used during a public reading in 1853.
Dickens was determined that his work should be accessible to all and insisted tickets be priced at a quarter of the usual cost, allowing wider audiences to experience the performance.
The full series will be available across all podcast platforms including Apple, Spotify and in an ad-free format on BBC Sounds from 1 December.
Noiser+ subscribers will have early access to two additional episodes, along with more than five-hundred exclusive episodes from across the wider Noiser catalogue.
