Spotify is celebrating International Podcast Day by highlighting the creators shaping modern podcasting as one of today’s most dynamic storytelling mediums.
In its latest Spotify Select, Where Podcasting Is Now, editors Lizzy Hale and Valentina Ruderman examine trends including video-first content, cultural impact, and global growth, noting that nearly seven million shows now connect daily communities of listeners.
Creators are redefining talk shows, breaking entertainment news, and turning audio into appointment viewing through video clips.
Spotify also shared advice from top creators for aspiring podcasters, including Steven Bartlett (The Diary of a CEO), who encouraged focusing on the work itself rather than charts, Sabrina Zohar (The Sabrina Zohar Show), who urged beginners to start when they have an idea, and Jack Coyne (The TrackStar Podcast), who said podcasts allow deeper conversations than short-form platforms like TikTok.
Also coinciding with International Podcast Day, The Hollywood Reporter is hosting its inaugural Podcast Roundtable in partnership with Spotify.
The discussion will feature top contenders for the newly introduced Golden Globes ‘Best Podcast’ category, debuting at the 83rd annual awards on 11 January 2026.
THR editor-in-chief Maer Roshan said: “We are thrilled to launch The Hollywood Reporter’s inaugural Podcast Roundtable in partnership with Spotify, shining a spotlight on the creative forces driving some of today’s most compelling storytelling.”
Roman Wasenmüller, Spotify’s Global Head of Podcast Business, added that the Golden Globes category recognises the creators building global communities through both audio and video.
The full THR Podcast Roundtable will air in November across THR’s platforms and Spotify, giving fans worldwide a front-row view of the voices shaping the future of podcasting.
